Here’s how to properly store Peur tea:
1. Moisture Content: Your Puer tea naturally contains about 10-12% moisture in it.
2. Ideal Conditions: Store it at room temperature, below 86°F (30°C), with a humidity level between 45-60%. These are the best conditions to maintain its quality. You can find out what your humidity level is by searching for your area’s humidity and temperature levels online, or buying a hydrometer.
3. When Humidity is Too High:
• If the humidity goes above the ideal range, use resealable plastic bags or airtight bags.
• Place one tea cake (the pressed disk of tea) per bag, squeeze out the air, and seal it tightly.
• Store the sealed bags in a storage box to prevent mold.
4. When Humidity and Temperature Stabilize:
• Once the humidity and temperature return to normal, open the bags to let the tea “breathe” and continue its natural aging process.
5. When It’s Too Dry:
• If the environment is too dry (low humidity), also seal the tea to retain its moisture.
Remember: Consistently maintain the recommended temperature and humidity levels for the best aging results. Good luck!
